Books I Cannot Wait For: June 2020

Hey everyone! Hope you are all doing well! I can't believe we are almost halfway done with 2020. The year so far might not have turned out the way we expected it to, but things are getting better. Slowly, but surely we are starting to get back on our feet.

May has also been a rough one for me. Just as I was going to start the job hunt, my love life got in the way. I wasn't dating anyone, but I just got hurt by someone who I used to care very deeply for. For the most part, I was over the situation, but it still hurt seeing him make this girl known to the world as his girlfriend, while I was the secret no one knew about. Maybe one day I'll go in depth, but it was just a toxic situation and me always believing the good in people, but enough about that.

The last time I did a "Books I Cannot Wait For" post I was doing them by season, but as I was looking around in the interwebs, I found so many good books that I was like let's do these monthly. I'll do my best to round up 5-10 books that I think are worth reading. My taste in books are rom-com/fairy tales with a dash of thrillers. The one thing I will not be posting are horrors or scary stories. Those aren't my vibe and I just can't with those. I will get spooked and this girl really loves her sleep, so ya.

Let's get started!

June Releases

Happily Ever After & Everything in Between by Debbie Tung
Release Date: June 2, 2020

Okay y'all, I know this isn't a book, but a comic. Something that I would never read if I didn't read the synopsis of it. It's based on Tung's marriage. She is an introvert married to an extrovert and she just sold me on that. I'm 100% an introvert and feel like I may be able to relate, so I just wanted to read more about what it is like to be married to an extrovert.

She does have another comic called "Quiet Girl in a Noisy World: An Introvert's Story" and I may or may not just bought it. This one illustrates what is like to be an introvert navigating life in college and life after college. Honestly, this is exactly what I need and I cannot wait to dig into this series.

Daddy's Girls by Danielle Steel
Release Date: June 9, 2020

If am I being honest with you, never in my life have I read a Danielle Steel book. I would just see them in the supermarket and think she just mass produces books, like are they even good? This one caught my eye though. Growing up, I was a major daddy's girl and horse back riding was our thing. When I was younger my dad work at a ranch and I had access to the horses. The cover just brought me back to my childhood and it also sounded like an interesting read.

After the death of his wife, JT Tucker decided to relocate his family to California and start a new life. JT had three daughters and each of the girls developed a different kind of relationship with JT. When he suddenly passes away many years later the girls are left with the ranch. As well as discovering the man their father really was.

The Boyfriend Project by Farrah Rochon
Release Date: June 9, 2020

I may have already pre-ordered this one. After the whole situation happened, I was not in the mood to read about love or men or any lovey-gushy love story, but this one peaked my interest.

Samiah Brooks finds out that her "boyfriend" was actually dating two other girls while they were together. The girls come together and make a vow that for the next six months they were going to invest in themselves and not focus on men, but of course a guy comes into Samiah's life.

I'm so interested in this story as I feel it has potential to be about putting yourself and your girlfriends first before any guy. I just can't wait to read this! Also, it gives me Girlfriends of Christmas Past vibes, which is my favorite holiday rom-com. If you have Hulu I highly recommend it!

You Say it First by Katie Cotugno
Release Date: June 16, 2020

When I saw this was a Katie Cotugno novel I had to see what this was about. First all, all of her books have cute covers and I have been collecting them since I cannot say no to a cute cover. This book gave me major Blair Waldorf vibes when I read the synopsis.

Meg has the perfect life. She currently works at the voter's registration call center and is set to go to Cornell University with her best friend. Life couldn't be any better for Meg until encounters a call from a small town boy in Ohio, Colby. The two develop an interesting connection and the premise of the book is the person you think you have the least in common with can be someone who can change your life. I'm really excited to read this one since I really haven't read anything involving love and politics. I always think that could be a tricky situation to handle.

The Last Train to Key West by Chanel Cleeton
Release Date: June 16, 2020

I also have this one on pre-order, but come on, look at that cover! I have read "Next Year in Havana" and it was amazing. Besides learning more about the Cuba Revolution, the book had many twists and turns that I needed more from Cleeton. Personally, I didn't know there was a natural disaster that happened in the Keys in the 30s, so I am intrigued to learn more about it. Also, I'm not sure if this could be read as a stand-alone, but once I get a chance to read this, I will definitely update you.

This book contains three perspectives. Mirta Perez, who agrees to an arrange marriage with an American. Elizabeth Preston, who happens to be in the Keys on vacation. These two women crosspaths and together come face to face on is about to come. I'm not sure if the third perspective is the present. I couldn't tell when I was reading the synopsis, but as always I linked the Amazon web page for better understanding.

Everyone Knows How Much I Love You by Kyle McCarthy
Release Date: June 23, 2020

Anything that starts with a woman having their life together and then coming across something from her past immediately intrigues me. Rose is thirty years old, smart, fierce, and self-aware. She moves to New York City and she reunites with her old friend Lacie. She convinces Lacie to let her move in with her and it quickly becomes an uncomfortable situation.

While Rose is tutoring students, she is writing a novel that happens to be about Lacie and her betrayal. Soon reality and the present becomes a blur line for Rose that she is about to relive some of the worst moments of her's and Lacie's life.

I don't think I have ever read a psychological thriller before and this one just sounds really interesting.

The Swap by Robyn Harding
Release Date: June 23, 2020

You had me when I read

“No list of thrillers is complete without Robyn Harding,” proclaims Real Simple. Now the USA TODAY bestselling author of The Party delivers a riveting tale about the toxic relationship between two couples after a night of sexual shenanigans, and the manipulative teenager with an explosive secret at the center of it all."

Low is the manipulative teenager. She has always felt alone in her small town until she met Freya, the owner of a pottery studio. Freya confindes many things to Low up until Jamie comes into the picture, and Low feels resentment towards Jamie.

One night Freya suggests they swap partners and what was supposed to be a fun fling turned out to be a mess. Low uses this to her advantage.

This isn't something I usually read, but I'm curious to see how the night of the fling went. Also curious to see the mind of an obsessive teenager, like did she have a crush on Freya or was it truly a friendship she missed?

Sex and Vanity by Kevin Kwan
Release Date: June 30, 2020

Honestly, at the time that I wrote this I haven't even read the synopsis of this book. All I saw was that Kwan was releasing a new book and I was like okay, say no more. I love the "Crazy Rich Asians" trilogy that I was like okay, let's give you a shot.

I'm not going to describe the story as I want to go into this with an open mind and not compare it to "Crazy Rich Asians," so the link will be there in case you want to look more into this book.

Well, there you have it y'all. I know that was a lot, so I really appreciate you taking the time and reading this. Please let me know if there are any books on here that you are excited for or what releases are you excited about that I missed. I would love to know and further expand my long TBR list!

Talk to you soon!
