Collective Haul: I Have a Problem

Hey! How are ya! Welcome back to my little blog! I know it was soo original of me to use a Jeffree Star reference, but soon y'all will find out that I am actually pretty invested in the beauty community as well. Besides books, my other love is makeup. A couple of years ago, I was super into trying the latest beauty products and trying out different makeup techniques. I have calmed down quite a bit, preferring a natural look and every once in a while winging out my eyeliner. All that remained from that era is keeping up with my favorite influencers. I don't know, I just got to the point were I know what I like and just keep using the same thing.

I wish I could say the same for books, but we all know that ain't happening. There are just so many good books out there and you never feel that the book community is getting over saturated. I just feel there are too many beauty influencers creating their own brands on top of the brands that have years of legacy. To me, I just feel there are too many options, which can feel overwhelming. To be honest, after a while it feels like brands are just copying each other and just making a few changes here and there. There is really no originally. I feel the only one that actually tries is Jeffree Star.

With books, you never know what you are going to get. Yes, an author can take a story and adapt it, but it is still a different story.

I was debating whether or not I should create this post. During the month of December, I went a little book crazy to say the least and to be honest with you, I can't remember all the books I bought. I have read a couple of these and I felt like maybe I shouldn't post this, but I was like what the hey, I already mentioned it in a previous post, so let's go for it.

All of this is a combination of Cyber Monday and random shopping trips. For the most part I got everything at Barnes and Noble, but a couple of these I got a Sam's Club. Believe it or not, Sam's Club actually has an amazing selection of books at amazing prizes.

I'm not going to discuss every book on the list, otherwise this will be a very long haul, but will shout out a few I feel that are notable for me.

December Haul

Winter in Paradise - Elin Hilderbrand

This was actually one of my Sam's Club finds. I was so happy because I needed it before I started to read "What Happens in Paradise," since they are a series.

Conceal, Don't Feel - Jen Calonita

This is a twisted tale from the Disney's movie "Frozen." It was an amazing read and if you are a Frozen/Disney fan, you will definitely enjoy it! Also found this a Sam's Club.

Winter Storms - Elin Hilderbrand

Needed to complete the collection. Still have not read any of her books, yet here I am acquiring them...

Love at First Like - Hannah Orenstein

I've Got Your Number - Sophie Kinsella

The Hating Game - Sally Thorne

I can't wait to read this one. It's your typical office romance, were someone hates the other but is secretly in love with them. Of course, there is a promotion on the line and guess who are the two finalists... Plus, a movie is coming out, so I must read this!

Where'd You Go Bernadette - Maria Semple

There is so much hype around this book, that I just caved and got it. I always saw this book on the sale section of my local BN and after much consideration, it is mine. Bonus, the bookseller at Barnes and Noble also loved it, so fate pretty much took control of this situation.

Power Your Happy: Work Hard, Play Nice, & Build Your Dream Life - Lisa Sugar

Got this for $3 y'all!! You can't say no to a $3 book, especially when it involves a female entrepreneur giving you advice to live your best life.

Pretty Happy: Healthy Ways to Love Your Body - Kate Hudson

The e-book version (I have Nook, but I much prefer my paper books). For $2, I could not pass it up. I heard great things about this book when it came out, so I knew eventually I would own it when the moment was right.

The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho

After seeing so much rave about it online, and even my own mother recommending it to me, I went ahead and made the investment. This is going to be my first read of 2020.

An Unwanted Guest - Shari Lapena

The Secret Language of Astrology - Roy Gillett

I also love astrology, so any book that is on sale and talks about astrology... I love!

It's safe to say that I am pretty set for 2020. Never had I bought this many books in a short time period, but with the sales going on in December, I couldn't pass that up.

I know there is a lot of books on here and I was considering linking them, so you can take a look, but don't want to force you to buy them from one particular site. Personally, I'm a BN girl, but I know some people prefer Amazon, thrifting them, or using their local library. I support any method you use to get your reading in, so just let me know if links are an absolute must or with just knowing the title and author will be sufficient.

Let me know what books you have recently acquired. I would love to take a look at them! Also what other hobbies do you have besides reading?

I have so many interests, that is why I decide to make my blog lifestyle instead of strictly just books. I want to share my life as it comes, and it just so happens books are the highlight of my life right now.

Talk to you soon!
