#bookreview ~ Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis

Hi Y’all, welcome back! Today, I thought I would lighten up the mood with a little motivational, self-help book by the good ole Rachel Hollis. People either love her or dislike her with a passion, but regardless, I love Hollis’ style of writing. She makes me feel like I am one of her closest friends, and I am one of those people who love those strangers that make you feel like you have known for years.

“Girl, Stop Apologizing” is exactly what you want to read when you get in those funky moods. Where you are wondering: what am I doing with my life? Throughout this book, Hollis becomes like your own personal cheerleader and opens up to you about challenges she had in her own life. It makes you feel not alone. As the reader, I can really connect with Hollis, just due to her personality and many of the struggles she had I also experience in my life.

“Girl, Stop Apologizing” is the pump up book you need when you are about to start something totally new and don’t know what to expect. It is also the type of book you need to remind you that you are a total badass and you don’t need to worry about what the world thinks. Hollis gives tips and tricks to help you find that motivation in your life and she preaches what she says. Is not like here are the tools, which by the way, I don’t even practice these in my daily life. We love people who stand by their word.

One of my favorite parts was when she wrote the “Be the Kind” poem (not officially called that, but is towards the end of a chapter and didn’t know what to call it). It starts off by saying “Be the kind of woman you want to be” and goes on listing all the kinds of woman you can be. It’s cheesy, I know, but I found this to the biggest thing I took away from this book.

If you want to learn more about Hollis, you will need to read “Girl, Wash your Face.” In “Girl, You’re your Face” she goes into more of her personal life, but still gives you hope that better things are to come. While Hollis was more personal in “Girl, Wash your Face,” that book was also inspirational to me. I read it during a time in my life that I just felt lost. You don’t need to read both. Each book could stand alone by themselves.

Final Verdict: I really recommend these two books for anyone that is struggling to find motivation or thinking what is the point in my life? Hollis writes in a manner that makes me feel like she was the older sister I never had. We love a woman who inspires others, opens up about her life and reminds you that you don’t live to fulfill other people’s expectations of you. You live to fulfill your own life and happiness. I know some of you out there might are total badasses and don’t need the reminder, but hey, I’m still in my early twenties, where people pleasing is one of my bad habits. I’m still learning about myself to become the badass woman I see myself becoming.

Let me know what you guys think. If you want me to write a review about “Girl, Wash your Face” I can totally do that. Also, I have read “You’re a Badass” by Jen Sincero if you guys want me to compare the two or give my thoughts on that I would be down for that.

Talk to you soon!
Marina
